Fine Art Medium:  Oil

Susan's primary focus is oil on canvas.  Much of her work is based on photos and sketches from her many travels to Europe, the Far East, and South America.  She enjoys painting colorful local Florida landscapes as well.  A composition that explores the inherent beauty in nature, either from a singular orchid bloom, or a specific setting, is her inspiration.  Often times it is the dramatic effects of contrast in light and shadow that hold fascination for her, and which she strives to capture with her brushstrokes or palette knife.  Her work conveys a soft, impressionist, and romantic, though realistic, mood.  Her goal in painting is to make her artwork sing!

Susan spent 27 years as a decorative fine arts painter, carrying out commissions and selling to buyers in the southern New England region.  In 2003, after a year sabbatical in Australia where she studied at the Griselda Academy, Susan relocated to Punta Gorda, and became an active member with the Visual Arts Center.  She was selected by the Arts and Humanities Council of Charlotte County as their Artist of the Month in 2005.  Additionally, her work was selected for entry into the Von Liebig Art Center Art Encounter 2008 in Naples, and the 2006 National Art Show at the Visual Arts Center.

Susan is currently a member of the Arts & Humanities Council of Charlotte County,  the Charlotte County Art Guild at the Visual Arts Center, and the Lee County Alliance for the Arts.
