Fine Art Medium: Mixed Media
Jill is originally from Massachusetts and since graduating from nursing school traveled quite a bit before landing in Port Charlotte, Florida in 2001. She has always been “artsy” but when she took a furniture painting class at the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda, the ideas (and the paint) really started to fly! When Jill ran out of furniture to paint she joined an abstract art class led by Beverly Yankwitt at the Cultural Center in Port Charlotte in September of 2015.
Jill works with alcohol inks, acrylics, mixed media and resin. She loves to experiment with different mediums and substrates but throughout her work there is one resounding theme: color. “I love to use vibrant colors. I think color can change your mood and brighten a dreary day.”
Since 2015, Jill has won many awards for her artwork, including a merit award at the International Society of Experimental Artists. She was Charlotte County’s Artist of the Month in February 2018, the Featured Artist at the 2018 Peace River Fine Arts Festival and has taught many workshops in alcohol inks. To Jill, teaching is the ultimate reward. “Sharing what you love with others and seeing all the possibilities of their creativity is such a thrill!”
Jill is a member of the Arts & Humanities Council of Charlotte County, the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda, Venice Art Center, Sarasota Art Center and the International Society of Experimental Artists.
