October Guest Artist Birgit Tode

Birgit Tode is a native of Germany who now resides in Sarasota.  Over her lifetime she worked and lived in many countries in Europe and spent time in Africa before moving to the US in 2012.

Her artistic journey began around six years ago with watercolor, clay and acrylic paint before she found her medium – resin.

As a self- taught artist she has never stopped discovering new techniques and ways to create.

Her work is currently exhibited at the Boulder City Art Gallery, the Boulder City Hospital, and the Hoover Dam Lodge, NV, at the Music & Art Gallery at Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas, Island Treasure Art Gallery, Kailua HI, and Sunshine Arts, Kaneohe, HI. In Florida, her work has been shown at  Art Center Manatee, Bradenton, Reworked Creations at Villages of the Arts, Bradenton, and at Island Gallery Venice.

Over the last few years she taught resin classes at the Art Center at Boulder City, NV, and garnered awards at local exhibitions.

“My way of working with resin is very intuitive. I almost never have a vision or plan; I just follow my inner voice for the next steps. I love to create with texture by adding glass, fibers, wood, feathers or stones into the artwork.  And I love to play with colors, new techniques, and challenging themes.  Nature is my inspiration when it comes to creating art.”
