March and April Guest Artist Diane Palmquist
I was born and raised in Pennsylvania and became interested in art and craft in high school. I moved to Connecticut where I lived and worked for 35 years. I made my living working out of my home studio and was represented in galleries and juried shows from Virginia to Vermont. I was a member of a 100 member co-op and school where we had clay, weaving, metal artists and work areas. I was also a member of three other selling and community co-ops. I owned my business for 25 years and I loved making works in clay. I moved to Cape Coral, Florida from Connecticut in 2012. My pieces are high fire stoneware, both functional and non-functional. They are all built with coils, slabs, and other hand building techniques, and I often incorporate other media such as pine needles, inflorescence, reed, metal, and wire into wall hangings. I love creating one of a kind pieces and each one generates ideas for the next piece. I am very inspired by nature and love using found materials.
