Fine Art Medium: Silver Jewelry
My journey to the world of jewelry design evolved accidentally. I spent many years in the paper art world, creating altered books and rubber stamping. One day in 2003, after stamping a polymer clay pendant, I decided I needed to bead a chain on which to hang my newly created pendant. Jewelry designing took over my world!
My husband and I moved to Florida in July, 2015 from Poughkeepsie, New York. In July, 2017 I retired from the corporate world. My goal for retirement is to continue expanding my love for jewelry making, selling through galleries and shops, in addition to teaching.
I have taken many informal classes through the years; I am primarily self taught. My work is currently selling through the Arts Alliance of Lemon Bay, the Venice Island Gallery, the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda and the North Port Art Center. I have participated in exhibits at the Erlenbach Modern Art Gallery, the Arts for ACT Gallery, the Cape Coral Art Studio, the Naples Art Association Gallery and the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda. I have been an active member of the Southwest Florida Fine Craft Guild since September, 2015.
In January, 2017 I began teaching weekly jewelry classes at the Arts Alliance of Lemon Bay, and I also offer my selection of classes in homes and communities and as private lessons.
My designs incorporate many different types of materials including natural stones, artisan glass and Swarovski crystals with precious metals. Wire weaving is my current passion.
